Therapeutic Indications

• The Product is recommended for use to treat the following:
• AMOXYCILLIN 250 mg Tablet DT is a penicillin-type of antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is effective in infections of the throat, ear, nasal sinuses, respiratory tract (e.g., pneumonia), urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, and typhoid fever.
• Additionally, AMOXYCILLIN 250 mg Tablet DT helps to eliminate a bacteria known as H. pylori in people with peptic ulcer disease. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that fights and stops the growth of many types of bacteria. This medicine is best taken with a meal to reduce the chance of a stomach upset. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it.

Usage Directions

• Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your Doctor. Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it.

Indicated Side Effects

• The following side-effects may commonly occur when using Amoxycillin Tablet. If any of these side-effects worsen or last for a long time, you should consult with your doctor:
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• rash
• nausea
• Rarely, the use of Amoxycillin Tablet may cause the following side-effects:.
• yeast infection of mouth, skin and nails
• abnormally active
• tooth discoloration (brown, yellow, or gray staining)
• sore mouth or tongue
• black hairy tongue
• sleeplessness
• dizziness
• itching of the skin
• hives.

• Special instructions need to be followed while taking this medicine along with Sex steroids such as oestriol, which is a female sex hormone. When Amoxycillin is taken by pregnant women, a decrease in the level of estrogens in the blood has been noted.
• Special instructions need to be followed while taking this medicine along with Oral Contraceptives, which are used to prevent pregnancy. When Amoxycillin is used with oral contraceptives, it may effect microorganisms present in the digestive tract. This results in decreased estrogen reabsorption and thus reduces the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
• There may be an interaction of Amoxycillin with Antimetabolites such as methotrexate, which is mainly used to treat cancer. Amoxycillin may reduce the excretion of methotrexate which results in its increased level in the blood
• Special instructions need to be followed while taking this medicine along with Sex steroids such as oestriol, which is a female sex hormone. When Amoxycillin is taken by pregnant women, a decrease in the level of estrogens in the blood has been noted
• Amoxycillin Tablet may interact with Tetracyclines, which are used to treat infections. Tetracyclines and other antibacterial drugs may interfere with the effectiveness of Amoxycillin.
• There may be an interaction of Amoxycillin with Antimetabolites such as methotrexate, which is mainly used to treat cancer. Amoxycillin may reduce the excretion of methotrexate which results in its increased level in the blood.
